Smiley Sharing: Rider Round Up #2

Here at Smiley Sharing we share the lighter side of (Uber) rideshare and life in and around and beyond St. Louis through a daily journal of ride-a-long adventures of our mascot Smiley and his driver Michael. In our daily ride-a-longs, tips for riders and drivers are scattered throughout the post. Here at the Rider Round Up, we gather all the tips, tricks, and answers, as applied to an Uber passenger in St. Louis, in one post a week. May this help those of you out there who are new, or even veterans to Uber St. Louis have a great ridesharing  journey.

Smiley Ridesharing: Pretrip Mental Checks and 5 Star Service (PMCS)

Reflecting on yesterday Michael is reminded of Stephen Covey’s words from Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. Stephen Covey says that so many of history’s greatest achievements were made by one determined individual’s will, but even greater than those individuals were those that tap the unmatched potential of the “we.” Yesterday really reflected the “we,” whether it be fellow rideshare drivers, passengers, or community college students, becoming that community, strengthening and empowering others is really what drives us for peace and balance.

Smiley Sharing Rider Round Up: State Wide (MO) Rideshare

Michael and his rider had a conversation about the benefits of competition and how much St. Louis and all of Missouri are looking forward to the rideshare bill being passed this year. (Read More about this bill here: Creating Jobs with a New Transportation Option for Missourians) When it is, it will offer passengers more options than what they already have, and those businesses will legally be able to pick up passengers from the airport. We firmly believe in doing the best you can and offering the people you serve options that meet their needs and are a great value.

It’s really easy to share a smile when there’s a lot of things that life is giving you to smile about, but when life is throwing you lemons, Michael says that you need to ask for the sugar and water to go with them to make lemonade.

With this being St. Patrick’s Day and a lot of well wishing, good luck, and wishes for “Luck O’ the Irish” going around, Michael shared with me what he believes about luck. To Michael, luck is very much real but L U C K to Michael means “Laboring Under Correct Knowledge.” I wish all you riders, drivers, and fellow travelers good L.U.C.K.

Smiley Sharing Uber St. Louis Ride-a-longs: 5 Star Tipping

Of course, Michael always appreciates the tips (You can tip on the website here: Smiley Supporting) he gets from riders, and while he never asks for a tip, he’s grateful to get them, especially if he’s succeeded in providing five-star service to his riders. The rating is the most important, but the tips go a long way towards helping Michael pay for gas, groceries, and grad school.

To all those who have encouraged Michael both in his grad school and his work with SmileySharing.com, we want to give you a big thank you. We appreciate your positivity, your recommendations, and your smiles. Thank you for making our work tonight such a positive experience that we can continue to pass the smiles along!

Smiley Sharing Uber St. Louis Ride-a-longs: Rideshare Destinations

Delmar Loop also has a lot of locally owned shops where one can buy anything from hard cider from candy to yarn. There are also lots of great eateries and the Moonrise Hotel, which is famous for its space memorabilia. The trolleys will soon be running again there, too, so don’t forget to visit Delmar Loop, if for no other reason than to visit Chuck Berry’s Blueberry Hill.

Smiley Rider Mental Health and Wellness: Personal Inventory

If you have a moment, take an inventory: Are you really as bad as you think you are? Do you feel as though you are not worthy of success? Can you smile at yourself? Is there anything in your life worth being happy about?

It may feel like the answers are “Yes, yes, no, and no,” but that’s not true! You are valuable, you are worthy of success, and there is always something worth being happy about, even if it isn’t always easy to find at first.

If you have the courage to change the way you feel about yourself, you’ll find the world around you changing. You’ll notice more of the positive things in your life, and you will be able to discover ways to overcome the negative things that come up in your life.
