Guerrilla Street Food: Uber Ridesharing Destination
Michael is on a quest to discover great local places to recommend to his passengers. For lunch on the 18th, Michael stopped and visited a restaurant called Guerrilla Street Food. The business is also a food truck, but they chose to open a brick-and-mortar store off of arsenal.
Michael had “The Flying Pig” in a burrito style (slow roasted pork asado, calamansi, hoisin, sriracha, fried garlic and black sesame seeds served over rice and topped with a sous vide one hour egg and scallions wrapped in a tortilla) and for the drink he had a “One Inch Punch,” a Guerrilla Street Foods specialty made with black currant juice, pineapple juice, and coconut milk. It’s a purple, lightly sweetened, and is refreshing—perfect for springtime.
There was some confusion when Michael ordered—there was no direction whether to sit down or wait at the counter for the food to be ready, which might be a stumbling block for customers besides Michael. In addition, Michael ordered it as an eat-in order, and it was prepared as a to-go order.
Guerrilla Street Food: A St. Louis Ridesharing Destination Summary
Overall, it does appear to be a considerable amount of food for the money. The Flying Pig was tasty and had a light sweetness to it. It had a lot more rice than meat, and it had a little bit of lettuce. The price for the amount of food, taste, freshness of the food, and the unique location in at the eastern end of Tower Grove Park made Michael very happy, and he enjoyed his meal.
I would overall recommend Guerrilla Street Food. A link to their link to their website and social media will be available in the Smiley Recommends tab.
(An additional note: the parking behind the store front of Guerrilla Street Foods is available, and it is free on a Saturday evening. Near dinner time, it looks like there are some parking spots available so if you are looking for a place to stage near Arsenal and don’t want to be paying a parking fee, stage behind Guerrilla Street Food.)
