Smiley Sharing Uber Lyft St. Louis Ride-a-longs
St. Louis Cardinal Opening Day Rideshare Special
Two households, both alike in dignity, In fair St Louis where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where a civil game makes civil hands clap and cheer!
Welcome! Today is a special day because it’s the home opener for Cardinals Baseball. Here in St. Louis, it’s a holiday on par with the 4th of July and Christmas. There’s a palpable feeling of camaraderie as we start our shift. We’ll be taking people to the game, the pep rally preceding it, and the Blues game taking place today. The Cardinals will be opening up the season against their traditional rivals, the Chicago Cubs. It feels very epic—almost Shakespearean—to open the season against such an appropriate team.
Smiley St. Louis Rideshare: Pretrip Mental Checks and 5 Star Service (PMCS)
On days like these, it’s important to remember the basics. Make sure that you have a full tank of gas before going online; otherwise, you’ll have to stop to refuel during peak demand, costing you money. Make sure your vehicle is clean—a clean, fresh-smelling vehicle always makes a good first impression. Check your tire pressure. Make sure all of your exterior and interior lights are in good working order. Once you’ve made sure you’ve got the basics covered, it’s time to hit the road.
Smiley St. Louis Rideshare: First Trips Networking & Driver Tips
Our first long trip was with some locals who had moved down to Texas for a time, then returned. Since Michael is originally from Texas, he and his riders swapped stories and talked about the kind of work they were looking for.
Sidenote: Here at Smiley Sharing, we love to network! If you would like to network with us, please send us a message with your contact information and a bit of information about yourself and what you do.

Smiley St. Louis Rideshare: Maximize Your Driver Profits
We’re continuing to shuttle people in for the festivities. Michael has found that the most effective method to make the most of his time is to turn off new requests while bringing passengers in, then turn it back on when he’s back to his staging area. Michael learned about this the hard way when he had a group of passengers who just wanted to go seven blocks. It took Michael 10 minutes to find them and 12 minutes to get them where they needed to go. That used a lot of gas! Since then, Michael uses his strategy to maximize his time and his money when bringing passengers to an event. The right tools and knowledge help Michael, and we at Smiley Sharing enjoy sharing what we’ve learned with our fellow drivers to help them make the most of their time and money, too!
Smiley St. Louis Rideshare: 9 Innings, One City
For nine innings, the people of St. Louis and Cardinal Nation are truly family. After the game, people will be heading various places—some will be going home, and others will be carrying their celebrating into extra innings. We picked up a couple and the husband’s brother from a bar. They hadn’t been able to afford tickets to the game, but they were able to enjoy the game on the bar’s televisions while they spent time together celebrating the official opening of baseball season.
Smiley St Louis Uber Ridesharing: Going Offline
Our last passenger for this shift is getting his Master’s Degree in Statistics. He was very pleased when Michael expressed interest in his work, and I think it made the ride a lot more pleasant for him. By the time the ride was over, Michael and the passenger were friends. Michael enjoys making friends with people when he can, because you never know when a friendship can be helpful to yourself, your friends, your family, or another passenger. New friends can lead to stronger networks and opportunities one might never discover otherwise.
To all you drivers out there, I ask: Have you ever developed friendships with any of the people who have ridden with you?
